Cataracts

Cataracts can cause blurry vision and make tasks like reading or driving difficult. Not only that, but they can also progress and cause symptoms like faded colors or halos around lights. At UpTown Eyecare in Orlando, FL, we can diagnose cataracts with an eye exam and provide treatment that will improve your vision.

Cataracts

What are Cataracts?

Cataracts occur when the lens of your eye becomes clouded. This clouding usually happens when the proteins and fibers in your eye begin to break down and create a film over your lens. As a result, the light that enters your eye is scatted and makes it harder for you to see. Cataracts also grow slowly, so you may not notice your vision changing at first.

Who is at Risk for Cataracts?

While cataracts often develop as we get older, they can happen at any age. Along with that, they are more likely to occur in people who smoke, are obese, have diabetes, have a family history of cataracts, and have been exposed to excessive UV rays.

Symptoms of Cataracts

If you have cataracts, you may experience various symptoms. Some of these symptoms include:

Treatment for Cataracts

When you visit us, our optometrist will perform an eye exam to confirm if you have cataracts.
