Contact Lenses at Uptown Eyecare

If you are looking for an alternative to eyeglasses, contact lenses are a great option. Contact lenses offer vision correction without frames or smudged lenses obstructing your eyesight. Uptown Eyecare can help you determine if contact lenses are right for you. If you are in Orlando, Hunters Creek, or Lake Nona and are looking to schedule a contact lens exam at our clinic, here's what you need to know.

Contact Lenses

Eye Care & Health Assessment

The first step to getting contact lenses is undergoing an eye exam. Our eye doctor will use tools to examine the structure of your eyes to ensure that contact lenses are a good fit for you. Examining the structure of your eyes is important because some lenses may work better for the shape of your eyes than others. During a contact lens exam, we will also provide an eye chart test to determine your prescription. You will look through different lenses to determine what kind of prescription suits your eyes.

Lifestyle Assessment

Often, lifestyle assessments are used to determine what kinds of lenses are best for you. For example, people with dry eyes benefit from specialty contact lenses, or your job may require that you use extended-wear contacts. Some people benefit from monthly-wear lenses, whereas others need to use daily disposables.

Contact Lens Instruction

When your eye doctor has determined your prescription and the best type of lenses for you, they will give you a pair of trial lenses. You will be instructed in inserting, removing, and caring for your contacts. You will be required to put the lenses in and take them out before leaving our office to ensure that you know how to properly perform this task. When you can properly insert and remove your contacts on your own, you will schedule your follow-up appointment and wear the contacts home.

Follow-Up Appointment

After your initial visit, you will come in for a follow-up visit where you will wear the contacts. Your eye doctor checks that the prescription is the best option for you and determines that the fit is comfortable. This is also a good time to ask questions about your lenses or bring up any concerns you may have. If the contacts are working well for you, our eye doctors will order your supply of lenses.
