Meet the Optometrist

​​​​​Dr. Christopher McCann was born in Atlanta, Georgia and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from North Carolina State University. He achieved another Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science and then his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2007. He completed a residency in ocular disease at the VA Hospital in Baldwin Park, Orlando. Dr. McCann has volunteered with Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity (VOSH), traveling to impoverished nations to provide medical eye care. He has participated in several medical mission trips to Trinidad, Peru, and Ecuador during his time at Nova. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. In his spare time, Dr. McCann enjoys spending time with his toddler twins and family, playing the guitar, and playing sports.

​​​​​Dr. Vanessa Morales McCann was born in Bronx, New York and raised in Winter Park, Florida. She achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida. She then achieved another Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and her Doctorate of Optometry with a certificate of professional distinction in 2008 from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. Her special clinic interests include ocular disease and specialty contact lenses, including scleral and hybrid lenses.  She also fits special contact lenses for myopia control in children.  She has received advanced training in pediatrics. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa, the Optometric Honor Society. In her spare time, Dr. Morales McCann enjoys spending time with her toddler twins and family, exercising, and hiking. 

​​​​​Dr. Sarah Eid was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She received her international baccalaureate degree prior to attending the University of Central Florida and completing her Bachelor in Health Sciences with honors. She continued her studies in Boston, Massachusetts achieving her Doctorate of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry.

During Dr. Eid’s academic years she worked in the optical field for 10 years along with multiple VA clinics and Perkins School for the Blind. Dr. Eid strives to create an enjoyable patient experience while practicing modern, evidence-based optometry.

She enjoys all aspects of the field with a specialty in dry eye treatment and management. She describes an eye exam as having 3 main components: vision, neurology, and ocular health. She enjoys showing patients how the eye can give insight to the health of the rest of the human body, as many medical conditions can be detected through the eye. “The light of the body is the eye. If your eye is healthy, your body will be full of light.”

Outside of practicing optometry Dr. Eid enjoys theatre and the arts. She has performed in productions in Florida and New York. She loves to travel and considers herself a culinary adventurer.

​​​​​Dr. MacDonald has a passion for helping her patients achieve their very best vision – whether their best vision is achieved through the very best pair of eyeglasses, contacts, or specialty lenses.  Dr. MacDonald loves teaching her patients about their eyes and guiding them towards their best possible vision.  She believes it's important for her patients to understand their eyes and their options so they can work together to make choices for a lifetime of their best vision.

Dr. MacDonald is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University School of Optometry and she attended Florida Atlantic University for her undergraduate studies. Dr. MacDonald is a specialist in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, contact lens evaluation and management, refractive eye surgery consultation and care, with certification to prescribe therapeutic and oral medications. Dr. MacDonald was born in Connecticut and grew up in South Florida. She now lives in Maitland with her husband, three children, and her two dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family at New Smyrna beach and nearby theme parks. She can often be seen cheering on the sidelines at her kids' sporting events.

​​​​​Amanda Otero serves as the director of operations. She leads the company’s approach in defining unparalleled patient and consumer experiences to improve the health and wellbeing of the community of Orlando and surrounding areas. Amanda also focuses on enhancing every patient’s experience with leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive exceptional patient care and efficiency.

Amanda has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in multiple specialties leading organizational and operational strategy, including strategic planning, operational improvement, restructuring and reorganization, financial planning, and physician practice management. Along with overseeing day-to-day patient care operations.

Before joining Uptown Eyecare Amanda held an executive position in Seattle Washington. Overseeing several facilities, which include ambulatory surgical center, clinical laboratory, endocrinology laboratory, and medical offices. She also served as an operations consultant for a large multi facility urgent care throughout Washington state.

Amanda’s mission is to build and sustain a quality health continuum of care that is consumer-focused, equity-focused and effective in meeting the unique and complex needs of every patient to promote well-being for individuals, families and communities.

​​​​​Dr. Vanessa Saenz Cortes was born and raised in South Florida. She attended University of Central Florida for her undergraduate education where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. She received an additional Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University, where she graduated with honors. During her academic career, she represented NSU as a student ambassador and participated in student organizations such as Beta Sigma Kappa, the National Optometric Student Association, Contact Lens Society, and more. She obtained clinical experience providing primary eye care and pediatric eye care at clinics in Davie and North Miami Beach. She also has experience providing eye care to veterans at VA clinics. Her goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to people of all ages and ensure patients have their visual needs met. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, reading, crafting, and exploring Orlando.
